Join us for a day of engaging presentations\, hands-on stati ons\, refreshments\, music\, and art to celebrate the stories brought to u s through local archaeological digs and the opening of our newest exhibiti on\, West of Ninth. This opening day of a year-long exhibit featuring the history of Beecher Terrace will have hands-on archaeology stations and mus eum activities\, community art project\, a screening of a new documentary and more. Anne Bader\, lead principal on the excavations at Beech Terrance will be giving a presentation at 12 noon.
\nDuring this time\, gue sts will have full access to all of the Frazier Museum exhibits. Admission free until 2:pm. Reservations are not required. *Masks are requir ed and spaces are limited for all seated programming and masks are highly recommended for all Frazier Museum guests. Buildings and parking lots in downto wn Frankfort had hidden it for over a century. Construction for the Kentuc ky Department of Transportation Building re-discovered the cemetery in 200 2. During this Zoom presentation\, David Pollack\, Kentucky Archaeological Survey\, will discuss circumstances surrounding the project’s beginning\; what investigators documented regarding interment practices and grave cha racteristics\; what was discovered about the people from the bioarchaeolog ical analyses\; and what investigators learned about social and ethnic pat terning within the cemetery.
