Every year during the month of September, KYOPA sponsors a state-wide event to promote awareness, preservation, and education on the state’s history. Each year a new theme is chosen to focus on, and events are held across the state during this time including talks, public digs and the creation of educational materials. A poster contest is also held each year, and the winning poster is then printed to be distributed to local schools, libraries and government offices.
